June 25, 2018: Woman Enters Plea for Fatal DUI Crash in Santa Clarita

A 21-year-old woman entered a no contest plea for a DUI crash that killed a 37-year-old mother of six in Santa Clarita, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Deputy District Attorney Courtney Armendariz said Alexia Alilah Cina of Canyon Country pleaded no contest to one count of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

Sentencing is scheduled July 6 in Department J of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, San Fernando Branch. The defendant faces 10 years in state prison.

On Oct. 6, 2017, Cina was driving southbound on Golden Valley Road at a high rate of speed when she hit the center median and crashed into Katie Snyder Evans’ vehicle on the northbound side of the road, the prosecutor said.

Case PA089771 was investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Santa Clarita Station.
