March 26, 2020: Woman Charged with Injuring Two in Long Beach DUI Hit-And-Run

A motorist was charged today with severely injuring two men in a DUI crash and then fleeing the scene, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Charlette Anne Colton (dob 1/12/70) of Lakewood faces one felony count each of driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury within 10 years of another DUI offense, driving with a .08% blood alcohol content causing injury within 10 years of another DUI offense and hit-and-run driving resulting in serious injury to another person.

Case NA114172 includes allegations that Colton inflicted great bodily injury, her blood alcohol concentration was .20% or more and was convicted of a DUI in 2012.

Arraignment was scheduled today but continued to tomorrow in Department S01 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Long Beach Branch.

On March 24, Colton reportedly crashed her minivan into a car, crushing one victim’s leg and severely injuring a pedestrian on Del Amo Boulevard near Locust Avenue, prosecutors said. The defendant is charged with then fleeing the scene, prosecutors added.

If convicted as charged, Colton faces a possible maximum sentence of nine years in state prison. Bail is set at $160,000.

The case remains under investigation by the Long Beach Police Department.
