A 24-year-old man has been charged with leaving his 9-month-old girl inside a car while he went into a strip club during the daytime, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced today.

Auwin Dargin (dob 4/18/91) of Van Nuys was charged yesterday with one count of child abuse in case PA085994.

Dargin pleaded not guilty at arraignment and is scheduled to return on May 3 in Department H of the

Los Angeles County Superior Court, San Fernando Branch.

On March 9, the defendant is alleged to have left his baby daughter in the car for about an hour while going into a strip club at approximately 2 p.m., prosecutors said. The baby was found alive in the car by employees of the club and a neighboring business who then rescued her and allegedly confronted Dargin as he stepped outside of the club, prosecutors added.

If convicted as charged, the defendant faces a possible maximum sentence of six years in state prison.

The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department, Mission Division.
