A Basset man and his nephew have been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a man outside of a Baldwin Park restaurant in 2016, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced today.

Omar Valenzuela Perez aka Omar Salazar Medina (dob 1/11/92) was sentenced yesterday to 50 years to life in state prison while Eric Armenta Perez (dob 7/21/95) received a 25 years-to-life prison sentence.

Deputy District Attorney Cindy Park said both defendants were found guilty on Oct. 22, 2018, of first-degree murder.

The jury also found true allegations that a handgun was used in the murder.

On Nov. 6, 2016, Omar Perez got into a verbal argument with victim Alberto Calvillo, 24. According to evidence presented in court, Omar Perez shot Calvillo to death with a gun provided to him by his nephew and they both fled.

Case KA113936 was investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the Baldwin Park Police Department.
