Two men were charged today with the murder of a 25-year-old man found shot to death in the front lawn of a house in Glendale, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Laquan Dontae Parker (dob 11/17/91) of Suisun and Brandon Jamal Perkins (dob 6/24/90) of Stockton are each charged with one count each of murder, possession of a firearm by a felon with priors and carrying a loaded stolen firearm.

Case GA099146 includes allegations that a handgun was used and that Parker was convicted in San Joaquin County of carrying a loaded firearm in public in 2014 and Perkins was previously convicted in Solano County of carrying a concealed firearm in 2009 and possession of a firearm by a felon in 2011.

Arraignment is scheduled this afternoon in Department D of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Pasadena Branch.

The victim, Phillip Niles Jr., was found shot to death in front of a residence in the 1600 block of The Midway Street on June 25, prosecutors said. The victim allegedly collapsed there after being shot nearby, outside an apartment in the 1700 block of North Verdugo Road, prosecutors added.

Prosecutors will ask for $3 million bail for both defendants.

The case is assigned to Deputy District Attorney Damiana Mundroff.

If convicted as charged, they both face a possible maximum sentence of 50 years to life in state prison.

The case remains under investigation by the Glendale Police Department.
