Prosecutors today filed criminal charges against two men accused of robbing and fatally shooting a 31-year-old man in a parking lot at Los Angeles Valley College, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Raheen Ahab Taylor, 31 (dob 2/14/82), of San Jacinto, and Derrick Phillip Wilson, 25 (dob 9/11/88), of San Diego, are scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon in Department 100 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Van Nuys Branch.

Deputy District Attorney William Ryder said Taylor and Wilson are charged with one count each of murder with a special circumstance allegation of murder during the course of a robbery.

Additionally, the men are charged with three counts each of second-degree robbery in case LA076653. The charges include special allegations that the defendants personally and intentionally discharged a firearm, a handgun.

Both defendants are being held without bail. The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department is investigating the case.

The special circumstance of murder for robbery makes this a potential death penalty case. Prosecutors will decide later whether to seek the death penalty.
