A middle school music teacher is scheduled to be arraigned today on a child pornography charge, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Eric James Mitchell (dob 1/7/80) is expected to be arraigned in Department 30 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center. He is charged in case BA445890 with one count of possession of more than 600 images of child pornography.

Deputy District Attorney Samer Hathout of the High Tech Crime Division, who is prosecuting the case, said law enforcement agents raided Mitchell’s home on March 25 and found sexually explicit images of minors on digital devices.

Mitchell was arrested at Calle Mayor Middle School the same day.

If convicted, Mitchell faces up to five years in state prison.

The case remains under investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
