A man and two women have been charged in connection with the murder of a 31-year-old man inside an apartment unit in Glendale, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced today.

Jared Braden Kasiewicz (dob 8/11/87) and his girlfriend Sparkle Soojian (dob 3/30/83) were both charged yesterday with one count of murder in case GA097117.

Courtney Argue (dob 6/15/90) was charged with one felony count of accessory after the fact-knowledge of murder in case GA097118.

Arraignment for Soojian is scheduled today in Department D of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Pasadena Branch. Kasiewicz and Argue entered not guilty pleas yesterday and are due back on Oct. 5 in Department J.

On Sept. 10, John Michael King-Smith was allegedly killed when he was beaten and choked by Kasiewicz at Soojian’s apartment, prosecutors said.

If convicted as charged, Kasiewicz and Soojian each face a possible maximum sentence of 25 years to life in state prison. Argue faces a three-year prison sentence.

Bail was set at $1 million for Kasiewicz and $50,000 for Argue. The recommended bail for Soojian is more than $1 million.

The case remains under investigation by the Glendale Police Department.
