A 43-year-old Long Beach man was sentenced today to two years in state prison today for sexually assaulting a 17-year-old boy two years ago, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Andrew Bueno-Potts, a.k.a. Drew Bueno-Potts pleaded no contest earlier this month to one count of sodomy of a person under 18 in case NA110551.

Deputy District Attorney Kelly Kelley said Bueno-Potts also will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life and was ordered to stay away from the victim for 10 years.

The sexual assault occurred at the defendant’s residence when he let the victim live with him between July and August 2017, the prosecutor said. At the time of the offense, Bueno-Potts was a high school teacher in Huntington Beach but the victim was not a student at that school.

The case was investigated by the Long Beach Police Department.
