February 18, 2016: Sherman Oaks Man Charged in Domestic Violence Case

A 37-year-old Sherman Oaks man has been charged with 10 felony counts in a domestic violence case, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Karlen Shubaralyan (dob 6/5/78) faces one count each of forcible rape, stalking and first-degree burglary, person present; two counts each of injuring a spouse and dissuading a witness from reporting a crime and three counts of criminal threats in case PA085711.

The felony complaint filed for warrant includes an allegation that the defendant inflicted great bodily injury under circumstances involving domestic violence and that the victim had a restraining order against Shubaralyan.

The complaint also includes the allegation that Shubaralyan was out on bail or on his own recognizance for case LA082506. The unrelated case charges the defendant with nine felony counts including grand theft and passing non-sufficient funds checks exceeding $950.

Arraignment is scheduled for Feb. 22 in Department S of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, San Fernando Branch.

Shubaralyan is charged with victimizing his ex-wife starting in 2014, with the most recent alleged incident on Feb. 8, prosecutors said.

If convicted as charged, the defendant faces a possible maximum sentence of 25 years and eight months in state prison.

Case PA085711 was filed on Feb. 17 and Shubaralyan was arrested today on the no bail warrant.

Deputy District Attorney Ani Bailey is the assigned prosecutor.

The case was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department, Devonshire Division.
