March 21, 2019: Rowland Heights Man Sentenced for Lewd Acts Upon a Child

A 54-year-old former second-grade teacher at Rowland Elementary School was sentenced today for lewd acts upon a child and molestation, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Jose Cruz Martinez (dob 5/3/64) was sentenced to five years in state prison in case KA117953 by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Stacy Wiese. Martinez was convicted of four counts of lewd acts upon a child under the age of 14 and one misdemeanor count of child molestation.

Deputy District Attorney Michelle Graves prosecuted the case.

Martinez inappropriately touched a total of five girls ages 7 and 8 on the school campus between August 2014 and June 2015 and between August 2017 and April 2018.

The case was investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
