August 22, 2018: Restaurant Employee Charged with Secretly Recording Other Employees in Restroom

An employee at a Signal Hill restaurant has been charged with recording fellow employees in the bathroom, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Edgar Augusto García Franco (dob 11/19/68) of Long Beach faces 38 misdemeanor counts of unauthorized invasion of privacy videotaping or photographing a victim.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges today and is scheduled to return for a pretrial hearing on Aug. 29 in Department 6 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Long Beach Branch.

According to the criminal complaint, García Franco recorded eight women and one man between July and August at the restaurant located on the 800 block of East Spring Street.

The defendant faces a possible maximum sentence of 19 years in jail if convicted as charged. Bail is set at $150,000.

Case 8LB12521 remains under investigation by the Signal Hill Police Department.
