A 46-year-old woman has been charged with fatally shooting her boyfriend at the Palmdale home they shared, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced today.

Deputy District Attorney Ryan Williams said Angelique Detrice Spurlock (dob 12/21/68) of Palmdale faces one count of murder with an allegation that she used a handgun in case MA066900.

Arraignment was continued late yesterday to Oct. 7 in Dept. A01 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Antelope Valley Branch.

On Sept. 4, the defendant and her boyfriend, James McQuarter, 40, got into an altercation at their house when Spurlock allegedly produced a handgun and shot him, the prosecutor said. The victim died across the street as he attempted to get help, the prosecutor added.

If convicted as charged, Spurlock faces a possible maximum sentence of 50 years to life in state prison.

Her bail was set at more than $2 million.

The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
