A Palmdale man has been charged with the death of his girlfriend after she allegedly jumped out of a moving vehicle during a domestic violence attack, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Deputy District Attorney Jon Hatami said Bryan McKim (dob 5/2/59) faces one count each of murder and kidnapping.

Arraignment is scheduled today in Department A1 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Antelope Valley Branch. Case MA068729 was filed for warrant on May 19.

On March 3, McKim and his girlfriend of three years, Linda Wood, 58, got into an argument that allegedly turned physical while the defendant drove their Chevrolet pickup truck near East Avenue R, in Palmdale, the prosecutor said. The victim was reportedly trying to get out of the vehicle but the defendant continued the physical attack and grabbed her by her hair and arms to prevent her from exiting, the prosecutor added.

When Wood allegedly broke free of the attack, she jumped out of the moving vehicle and hit her head on the street, according to the prosecutor. She died at a local hospital on March 12.

The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
