The husband of a Montebello city councilwoman pleaded guilty today to a drug possession charge for selling methamphetamine near a school, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Ruben Guerrero, 44, entered his plea to one count of possession of methamphetamine for sale and admitted an allegation that the crime took place within 1,000 feet of a school.

He was taken into custody and is scheduled to be sentenced on May 23 to 180 days in county jail, 30 days of Caltrans work and placed on five years probation.

Guerrero was arrested in October after the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau set up an undercover sting operation near Montebello Intermediate School. Prosecutors said Guerrero sold methamphetamine to an undercover deputy and received money in return.
