A handyman accused of stealing a Rolex Mariner watch was sentenced today to two years and eight months in prison, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Ricardo Orozco, 39, pleaded no contest in January to one felony count of receiving stolen property.

Orozco was working as a handyman for a family in Beverly Grove when the homeowner’s son realized his watch was missing from his bedroom on April 20, 2013.

Prosecutors said Orozco was in the house the day the watch went missing. They later found that the defendant pawned the watch a day after it was stolen.

Investigators were able to match the watch pawned to the one stolen through receipts and the serial number, according to prosecutors.

The case was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Wilshire Division
