A 46-year-old man was sentenced today for driving a stolen vehicle in a reckless and dangerous manner during a police pursuit early this year, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Karapet Kirpichyan of North Hollywood was sentenced to four years and eight months in state prison under the terms of a negotiated plea agreement before Los Angeles County Superior Court Commissioner Kristi Lousteau.

He pleaded no contest on April 24 to one felony count each of assault with a deadly weapon, a vehicle, and driving or taking a vehicle without consent. The defendant also admitted an allegation of a prior felony conviction of driving or taking a vehicle without consent.

Deputy District Attorney Ani Artsvelyan prosecuted case LA089826.

On Jan. 9, Kirpichyan fled from police officers in a stolen work van in Van Nuys. During the pursuit, the defendant collided with several vehicles before coming to a stop on a curb in Hollywood.

The case was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.
