A 25-year-old man was sentenced yesterday to six years in state prison for leading police on a pursuit on the 710 Freeway, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

At Thursday’s court appearance, Lajuan Deshaun King (dob 5/17/91) pleaded no contest to a felony count of fleeing a pursuing peace officer’s motor vehicle causing serious bodily injury in case GA098807.

The defendant also admitted that he was previously convicted of second-degree robbery in 2012.

Deputy District Attorney Presciliano Duran, who prosecuted the case, said on May 7 police received a call about a suspected robbery at a restaurant in the 700 block of West Valley Boulevard in Alhambra.

When authorities arrived at the location they spotted a white car leaving the scene and a police pursuit began, the prosecutor said.

The driver of the white vehicle, later identified as Lajuan King, entered the 710 Freeway and drove south to Long Beach.

After exiting the freeway in Long Beach, King lost control of the car and crashed, the prosecutor said.

The case was investigated by the Long Beach Police Department.
