A 36-year-old man convicted of carjacking his girlfriend’s vehicle and attempting to kidnap a teenage girl was sentenced yesterday to more than two decades in state prison, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Deputy District Attorney Bradley Roberts said Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Sean D. Coen sentenced Ashley Luther Price to 24 years and 8 months in state prison.

Last month, Price was convicted by a jury of one felony count each of carjacking and attempted kidnapping.

The prosecutor said on Sept. 29, 2013, Price got into an altercation with his girlfriend and stole her vehicle. Two days later, while driving the stolen car, the defendant attempted to kidnap a teenager as she was walking to school in Compton.

Authorities were notified about the attempted abduction and located Price standing near the stolen car on Oct. 4, 2013. He was arrested and has remained in custody since his apprehension.

The case was investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
