A homeless man pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter today for a fatal stabbing in Hollywood last year, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Alex Conn Vasquez (dob 3/8/94) also admitted allegations of using a deadly and dangerous weapon, a knife, in the commission of the crime and of having prior convictions as part of the negotiated plea agreement.

He is expected to be sentenced to 28 years in state prison on Sept. 5 in Department 123 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center.

On June 12, 2017, the defendant got into an altercation with victim Jimmy Bradford, 47, who also was homeless, near the 101 Freeway and Hollywood Boulevard, according to court testimony. Vasquez stabbed Bradford twice in the back.

Vasquez was arrested the next day after he was identified by witnesses.

Deputy District Attorney Megan Loebl prosecuted case BA458290.

The Los Angeles Police Department, West Bureau Homicide investigated the case.
