A 46-year-old felon has admitted to driving a stolen vehicle in a reckless and dangerous manner during a police pursuit early this year, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced today.

Karapet Kirpichyan of North Hollywood pleaded no contest yesterday to one felony count each of assault with a deadly weapon, a vehicle, and driving or taking a vehicle without consent, according to Deputy District Attorney Ani Artsvelyan.

The defendant also admitted an allegation of a prior felony conviction as part of a negotiated plea agreement before Los Angeles County Superior Court Commissioner Kristi Lousteau.

A sentencing and restitution hearing is scheduled for May 22 in Department 36 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center. The defendant faces four years and eight months in state prison under the plea agreement.

On Jan. 9, Kirpichyan fled from police officers in a stolen work van in Van Nuys. During the pursuit, the defendant collided with several vehicles before coming to a stop on a curb in Hollywood.

Case LA089826 was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.
