September 16, 2020: Man Pleads No Contest for Stabbing Parents

A Sherman Oaks man has pleaded no contest to stabbing both of his fathers multiple times, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced today.

Deputy District Attorney Manuel Almada said Matthew Boulet, 23, enter the plea yesterday to two counts of attempted murder and admitted allegations of causing great bodily injury.

Sentencing is scheduled on October 29 in Department V of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Van Nuys Branch. Boulet is expected to be sentenced to more than 15 years in state prison.

On July 24, 2018, the defendant stabbed one of his fathers multiple times on the neck, torso, arms, face and ears, the prosecutor said. When the victim’s husband attempted to intervene, he also was stabbed multiple times on the arms, torso and face, the prosecutor added.
