March 28, 2017: Man Found Guilty in Fatal Stabbing on Metro Bus

A Glendale man was found guilty today of murdering a passenger aboard a Metro bus in 2015, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

A jury deliberated for 30 minutes before finding Allan Jay Milton, 44, guilty of first-degree murder in case BA441385.

Deputy District Attorney Lee Orquiola said the jury also found true a special allegation that Milton personally used a deadly and dangerous weapon, a knife.

Sentencing is scheduled April 26 in Department 104 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center. The defendant faces 26 years to life in state prison.

On Nov. 9, 2015, Milton was on a bus in South Los Angeles when he got into an argument with Phillip Melendez, 49. The argument ended with Milton stabbing Melendez to death, the bus stopped and Milton ran out of the vehicle, according to court testimony.

The case was investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
