A man has been found guilty of murdering his partner on Skid Row last year, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Jurors deliberated for about three hours before finding 31-year-old Daniel Molayem guilty of first-degree murder yesterday and found the weapon allegations to be true.

Deputy District Attorney Lisa Kassabian of the Family Violence Division prosecuted the case.

On March 23, 2016, Molayem approached his girlfriend in the 500 block of San Pedro Street and shot her with a handgun. The victim died at the scene.

The defendant and the victim were in a dating relationship for more than 15 years, the prosecutor said.

Sentencing is set for Dec. 1 when Molayem faces a possible maximum sentence of 50 years to life in prison.

Case BA445216 was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.
