August 6, 2018: Man Charged with Vandalizing Trump's Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

A Glendale man was charged today for vandalizing Donald Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame last month, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Austin Mikel Clay (dob 11/28/93) was charged in case BA470178 with one felony count of vandalism. He is expected to be arraigned on Aug. 15 in Department 30 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center.

On July 25, Clay is accused of using a pickaxe to smash the star located on Hollywood Boulevard. The defendant left the scene but turned himself into a police department the following day.

If convicted as charged, Clay could face a possible maximum sentence of three years in jail. Bail is recommended at $20,000.

The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department, Hollywood Station.
