September 17, 2019: Man Charged with Warning of False Threat to LA County Fair

A Sylmar man has been notifying with calling authorities to falsely warn about a mass shooting threat at the Los Angeles County Fair this past weekend, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced today.

Erik Jonathan Villaseñor (dob 8/29/95) faces one misdemeanor count of false report of emergency.

Arraignment is scheduled today in Department E of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Pomona Branch. Case 9PC04361 was filed yesterday.

Villaseñor is charged with emailing authorities on Sept. 13 to falsely warn of an online threat of a shooting on Sept. 15, prosecutors said.

If convicted as charged, the defendant faces a possible maximum sentence of one year in jail and/or a $1,000 fine.

The case remains under investigation by the Pomona Police Department.
