October 27, 2023: Man Charged With Threatening to Kill Jewish Family in Racially-Motivated Attack in Los Angeles

Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced today that Daniel Garcia is charged with threatening to kill a Jewish family in their home in Los Angeles during an antisemitic attack.

“We unequivocally denounce the violent act committed against an innocent family in our community.” District Attorney George Gascón said. “This act, fueled by hate and antisemitism, has no place in our society, and we condemn it in the strongest terms possible.

Our commitment to protecting and defending all residents of our community is unwavering. Acts of hatred that threaten the safety and security of our families will not be tolerated.

We will provide support and justice, leaving no room for intolerance to thrive. Those who spread hatred will face the full force of the law.”

Daniel Garcia (dob 10/26/79) is charged in case LA100208 with three felony counts including one count of criminal threats; one count of attempted first-degree residential burglary; and one count of vandalism $400 or more in damage or destruction or property.

It is further alleged that Garcia committed hate crimes in violation of Penal Code Section 422.75.

Garcia is scheduled to be arraigned today in Dept. 100 of the Van Nuys Courthouse.

On October 25, 2023 at approximately 5:20 in the morning, Garcia attempted to enter the victim’s home by kicking in the door while shouting antisemitic slurs and threatening to, “kill Jews!”

Garcia is currently held on $125,000 bail.

If convicted as charged, Garcia will face a maximum sentence of seven years and four months in state prison.
