A Hawthorne man was charged today with stealing property from surfers in Manhattan Beach, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Jordan Paris Adams (dob 11/12/93) faces six felony counts each of identity theft and theft in case YA092481.

Adams pleaded not guilty today and is scheduled to return on Aug. 17 in Department 4 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Torrance Branch.

Between November 2014 and March 2015, Adams allegedly would find victims’ car keys inside the vehicle or around one of the tires, prosecutors said. The defendant is charged with stealing credit cards, phones and other items and using them to go on spending sprees, prosecutors added.

If convicted as charged, the defendant faces a possible maximum sentence of 10 years and eight months in state prison.

The case remains under investigation by the Manhattan Beach Police Department.
