May 6, 2020: Man Charged With Shattering Car Windows With BB Gun

A 19-year-old man was charged today with vandalism and other criminal counts for the shattering of car windows with a BB gun in Whittier, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Deputy District Attorney Carlos Oliva said Christian Brian Peña (dob 4/28/01) of La Habra faces 15 misdemeanor counts: 10 counts of vandalism under $400, four counts of discharge of a BB device with gross negligence and one count of resisting arrest.

Arraignment is scheduled on May 13 in Department 3 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Bellflower Branch.

According to the criminal complaint, Peña is alleged to have aided in shattering 10 car windows within a two-hour timeframe on January 23. Five people were in four of the cars that were allegedly shot by BBs, the prosecutor said.

The defendant faces 11 years in jail if convicted as charged.

Case 0BL03171 remains under investigation by the Whittier Police Department.
