An 18-year-old Sylmar man is slated to be arraigned today for the attempted murders of two teenage girls whom he allegedly struck with his vehicle and dragged when they became lodged under his car, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Miguel Angel Jimenez Jr., 18 (dob 3-19-95), faces two felony counts each of attempted murder, mayhem, torture, and leaving the scene of an accident as well as a misdemeanor count of corporal injury to spouse/cohabitant/child’s parent, and driving with a suspended or revoked driving license.

Jimenez is scheduled to be arraigned in Department S of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, San Fernando Branch Office. His case number is PA079122. Jimenez’s bail is set at $4.3 million.

Prosecutors said Jimenez was in front of a Lakeview Terrace home when he took part in a physical altercation in which two 17-year-old girls were also involved. Jimenez then allegedly struck the two teens as he attempted to flee the scene.

Both girls were caught under the car and dragged, until they dislodged and were left severely injured on the road while Jimenez allegedly continued to drive away, prosecutors added.

If convicted as charged, Jimenez faces life in state prison. The Los Angeles Police Department, Valley Division is investigating the case.
