A man was charged today with attacking two women in downtown Los Angeles last week, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Kevin Adray Russell (dob 3/4/65) was charged in case BA447073 with two counts of assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury. He is expected to be arraigned today in Department 30 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center.

On May 25, Russell is accused of hitting a 53-year-old woman outside a theater in the 600 block of W. 2nd Street. He then walked a few blocks and allegedly punched a 67-year-old woman outside a museum in the 200 block of South Grand Avenue.

The criminal complaint also alleges Russell has prior convictions for criminal threats and possession of a controlled substance.

Prosecutors are recommending bail be set at $185,000. If convicted as charged, Russell faces a possible maximum sentence of 29 years in state prison.

The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.
