A 37-year-old man entered a plea today for assaulting and strangling his 78-year-old father in 2016, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Deputy District Attorney David Zygielbaum said Anthony Joseph Dileva of Lomita pleaded no contest to assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury in case YA093650.

Sentencing for Dileva is scheduled for Nov. 7 in Department L of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Torrance Branch. The defendant faces two years in state prison under the terms of the negotiated plea.

Dileva strangled his elderly father on Jan. 24, 2016, during an argument, the prosecutor said.

The case was investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Lomita Station.
