A Los Angeles police officer was charged today with molesting two young girls he allegedly lured to his home on Saturday, the District Attorney’s Office announced.

Deputy District Attorney Stephanie Sparagna with the Justice System Integrity Division said Miguel Angel Schiappapietra Jr., 28 (dob 5-12-85), is scheduled to be arraigned after 1:30 p.m. at the Foltz Criminal Justice Center, Department 30. He is charged in case BA411464 with two felony counts of lewd act on a child under 14 years of age.

The six-year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department was arrested Saturday morning after two girls, both under the age of 10, told detectives that Schiappapietra sexually molested them. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Special Victims Unit is investigating the case.

Prosecutors will ask that his bail be set at $200,000. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in state prison.
