January 31, 2019: LA Schools Police Officer Charged For Alleged Payroll Scam

A Los Angeles Schools police officer was charged today with stealing about $27,000 from her employer for an alleged payroll scheme over a three-year period, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Juliana Casique (dob 8/26/84) was charged in case BA474736 with four counts of grand theft and one count of forgery. Arraignment is expected today in Department 30 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center.

Deputy District Attorney Deborah Delport of the Justice System Integrity Division is prosecuting the case.

Casique is accused of manipulating the timekeeping and payroll systems of the Los Angeles Unified School District. She allegedly was paid on 63 occasions between 2014 and 2017 for shifts and overtime she did not work.

If convicted as charged, Casique faces a possible maximum sentence of five years and eight months in state prison to be served in local custody.

The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Schools Police Department.
