An inmate was sentenced today to eight months in state prison for escaping from a downtown Los Angeles jail in March, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Christopher Lee Brown, 37, pleaded no contest last month to one count of escape. The sentence will be tacked onto his burglary conviction for which he received a sentence of four years and eight months in jail.

After Brown was sentenced March 12 for stealing computer equipment from an Alhambra medical center, he returned to the Twin Towers Correctional Facility where he posed as another inmate and walked out undetected.

Brown was found April 2 near a youth and family center in Santa Monica after someone spotted him.

Brown will serve the entire 64-month sentence in state prison rather than county jail, prosecutors said.

The case was investigated by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Major Crimes Bureau.
