A 54-year-old transient was charged yesterday with killing another in January, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Jonathan Scott Marsh (dob 3/30/63) has been charged with one count of murder in case KA117372. The felony complaint includes a special allegation that the defendant personally used a deadly and dangerous weapon, a knife, during the commission of the crime.

Marsh was scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday, but the court appearance was continued to March 12 in Department F of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Pomona Branch.

Prosecutors said on the morning of Jan. 25, Marsh and victim Matthew Musick, 40, reportedly got into a fight in a parking lot located in the 100 block of West Willow Street in Pomona.

During the struggle, Marsh allegedly stabbed Musick several times before he fled the scene, prosecutors added.

Two weeks after the incident, the defendant was arrested in connection with the killing.

If convicted as charged, Marsh faces a maximum possible sentence of 26 years to life in state prison.

The case is being investigated by the Pomona Police Department.
