A hit-and-run driver charged in connection with an accident that killed a 4-year-old girl in Glendale entered a no contest plea today, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Deputy District Attorney Isidoro Bailey said Shant Badleean, 56, of Glendale pleaded no contest to one felony count of hit-and-run driving resulting in death in case GA096378.

Badleean was immediately sentenced to 360 days in county jail and three years formal probation. He was ordered to surrender on May 2 to begin serving his sentence.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Robert Applegate also ordered that the defendant’s driving privileges be suspended for six months.

The prosecutor said the young girl, Violeta K., was struck as she ran into East Wilson Street on March 6, 2015. Badleean continued driving without stopping to render aid, the prosecutor added. The defendant turned himself in the next day.

The case was investigated by the Glendale Police Department.
