A man dubbed the “funeral burglar” pleaded no contest today for burglarizing homes while the victims attended funerals, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced.

Deputy District Attorney Elizabeth Karb said Brett Rogers, 45, pleaded no contest to two felony counts of first-degree residential burglary.

Rogers was immediately sentenced to four years in state prison.

On March 7 and March 11, Rogers burglarized homes in Los Angeles and Sherman Oaks, the prosecutor said. According to evidence presented at the preliminary hearing, the defendant also burglarized the home of a Glendale woman while she attended her husband’s funeral on April 2017, the prosecutor added.

As part of the negotiated settlement, Rogers was ordered to pay restitution for all three burglaries.

Case LA088252 was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department, Van Nuys Station.
