The former head coach of the Torrance High School wrestling team has been charged with 41 counts of lewd acts and child molesting, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced today.

Deputy District Attorney Hyunah Suh said Thomas Joseph Snider (dob 11/16/67) faces 33 felony counts of lewd acts upon a child ages 14 or 15 and eight misdemeanor counts of child molesting.

Case YA092267 was filed for warrant on April 9 and Snider turned himself in yesterday.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges today and is due back on April 20 in Department 4 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Torrance Branch.

Snider is accused of lewd acts on more than two dozen student athletes on his team ranging between the ages of 13 and 16 years old between September 2013 and February 2015, the prosecutor said. Most of the lewd acts are alleged to have happened at the school, the prosecutor added.

Bail was set at $900,000. If convicted as charged, the defendant faces a possible maximum sentence of more than 37 years in state prison.

The case remains under investigation by the Torrance Police Department.
