A former professional skateboarder charged with the assault of his girlfriend is expected to be arraigned Thursday, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Duane Thomas Peters, 52 (dob 06/12/1961), has been charged with one felony count of willful infliction of corporal injury in case NA098270. He is expected to appear Feb. 13 at the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Long Beach Branch in Department 1.

Prosecutors say on Feb. 7, shortly before midnight, the defendant reportedly became angry with his girlfriend and assaulted her at their residence in Long Beach.

Neighbors heard the commotion and interceded, prosecutors said. They were able to restrain the defendant until police arrived and arrested him.

The victim sustained some injuries to her body.

Prosecutors are requesting that Peters’ bail be set at $50,000. If convicted as charged, he faces a maximum of four years in state prison.

The Long Beach Police Department is investigating the case.
