A former medical billing company employee was sentenced today to more than four years in jail after pleading no contest to three felony counts, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Reon Jordan, 35, of Los Angeles pleaded to one count each of grand theft, second-degree commercial burglary and identity theft in case BA421415.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge James R. Brandlin immediately sentenced Jordan to four years, four months in state prison to be served in local custody.

Jordan additionally was ordered to pay $18,015 in restitution.  The defendant paid $8,000 at today’s court hearing, according to prosecutors.

Preliminary hearing testimony revealed that Jordan stole hundreds of patient identities with corresponding credit card numbers, which the defendant used to purchase gift cards, hair extensions and other items.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department investigated the case.
