An entertainment industry attorney has been charged with having sex with a 14-year-old boy, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced today.

Deputy District Attorney Chad Gillette said Benjamin Lawson Adams (dob 8/7/85) of Los Angeles faces three counts each of lewd acts upon a child, oral copulation of a person under 16, two counts of sexual penetration by a foreign object and one count of sodomy of a person under 16.

Adams pleaded not guilty to the charges today and is scheduled to return on Sept. 27 in Department 4 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Torrance Branch. Case YA094208 was filed for warrant on May 20.

According to the criminal complaint, Adams allegedly sexually assaulted the victim during the months of October and September 2015, the prosecutor said. The defendant is alleged to have initiated contact with the victim via a social media app and then arranged to meet with the teenager in person, the prosecutor added.

Adams faces a possible maximum sentence of more than 8 years in state prison if convicted as charged.

The case remains under investigation by the Manhattan Beach Police Department.
