A doctor already charged with illegally prescribing powerful painkillers is facing additional charges after he is accused of writing prescriptions while out on $450,000 bail, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Dr. Thomas Lin (dob 11/6/69) was arrested by the Alhambra Police Department yesterday. He is expected to be arraigned today in Department 30 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center.

Lin is charged in case BA423936 with nine felony counts of prescribing while having a restricted license along with an enhancement of committing a crime while out on bail.

If convicted in this case, he faces up to six years and eight months in jail. Prosecutors have requested Lin be held on $1 million bail on the new case.

The cases are being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorneys John Niedermann and Ryan Dibble of the Major Narcotics Division.

Lin and two of his employees were indicted in September on 55 felony counts, including sale of a controlled substance, illegitimate prescribing and fraud. He faces up to 34 years in custody if found guilty of all counts in the indictment.

Prosecutors said despite a judge’s order that he could no longer issue prescriptions while out on bail, Lin continued to write scripts for powerful narcotics to patients, some of whom were minors, at his pediatrics clinic.
