A Los Angeles deputy city attorney today pleaded no contest to a child pornography possession charge and was ordered to register as a sex offender for life, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Christopher Garcia, 57, entered his plea before Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Robert Vanderet, who placed the defendant on probation for five years. Garcia also must receive sex offender counseling and he was advised he would lose his law license.

Garcia was charged last month in case BA429000. Prosecutors said a search warrant was served last November at Garcia’s residence in San Pedro and child pornography images were found on his computer.

The case was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.
