A 24-year-old woman who was arrested in Oregon last week after she allegedly fatally shot her mother in Woodland Hills is awaiting arraignment on one count of murder, the District Attorney’s Office announced today.

Laura L. Purviance (dob 4-29-88) is charged with the Feb. 13 murder of Caroline Purviance, 61. Her mother’s body was discovered in the 5600 block of Mason Avenue, where the younger woman lived. The felony complaint for arrest warrant, filed Feb. 19, alleges Purviance personally and intentionally discharged a handgun.

Purviance, who was arrested Friday by Oregon State Troopers at a rest stop near Medford, Ore., appeared in a Van Nuys court today. However, her arraignment was put over to March 21 in Department 100. She is being held on $2 million bail.

If convicted, she faces up to life in prison.

The case is being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Elizabeth Ratinoff.
