October 7, 2019: CORRECTION: Man Charged with Murder of Girlfriend’s Estranged Wife

CORRECTION: Changes the age of the victim and the defendant.

A 24-year-old man has been charged with the capital murder of his girlfriend’s estranged wife in Granada Hills, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced today.

Deputy District Attorney Scott Eisen said Javier Flores (dob 8/4/95) of Simi Valley faces one count of murder with a special circumstance allegation of lying in wait and allegations of using a handgun.

Arraignment is scheduled today in Department S of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, San Fernando Branch. Case PA093452 was filed on Sept. 16.

Flores is charged with killing Cheyenne Brown, 24, as she arrived home on July 22, the prosecutor said.

The defendant faces death or life in prison without parole if convicted as charged. A decision on whether to seek the death penalty will be made at a later date. Flores is being held without bail.

The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.
