October 20, 2020: CORRECTION: Father Pleads Guilty to Murdering 3 Sons in 2015

CORRECTION: Corrects age of youngest victim to 8.

A 38-year-old man was sentenced today to 78 years to life in prison after pleading guilty to fatally stabbing his three sons in South Los Angeles five years ago, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Luiz Fuentes (dob 1/24/82) entered his plea to three counts of first-degree murder and admitted special allegations that he used a knife during the crime. He was immediately sentenced by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Lisa Lench.

Deputy District Attorneys Chelsea Blatt and Craig Rouviere prosecuted the case.

On or about Sept. 9, 2015, Fuentes parked his car in the 300 block of East 32nd Street in South Los Angeles and fatally stabbed his three sons, ages 11, 9 and 8. The defendant was found in the car and was arrested.

Case BA439801 was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.
