April 26, 2013: Charter School Teacher Charged in Child Sex Abuse Case

Teacher Juan Ramon Cardoza (dob 10/19/57) of Downey is accused of sexually abusing three female students at New Designs Charter School in Los Angeles, the District Attorney’s Office announced.

Cardoza is charged in case TA127963 with four felony counts of lewd act upon a child and one count of child molesting, a misdemeanor. The defendant will be arraigned May 15 in the Los Angeles Superior Court, Compton Branch, Department 12.

The alleged abuse, which involves one 13-year-old and two 14-year-old girls, occurred between October 1, 2012, and March 11, 2013, at the school.

If convicted as charged, Cardoza faces a maximum sentence of more than six years in state prison.
