A man was charged today with attacking a security guard at the Malibu home of model Miranda Kerr, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Shaun Anthony Haywood aka Esra (dob 9/17/87) of Australia faces one felony count each of attempted willful, deliberate and premeditated murder, aggravated mayhem, and assault with a deadly weapon, a knife.

Case LA084594 includes an allegation that Haywood inflicted great bodily injury on the victim.

Arraignment is scheduled today in Department 100 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Van Nuys Branch.

On Oct. 14, Haywood allegedly broke into the Malibu property in an effort to deliver a letter, prosecutors said. When confronted by a security guard, the defendant is charged with grabbing the guard’s knife and slashing his face, prosecutors added. The guard then shot Haywood.

Deputy District Attorney Elizabeth Dickinson is handling the case.

Bail is recommended at more than $1 million. If convicted as charged, the defendant faces a possible maximum sentence of life in state prison.

The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Lost Hills Station.
