An actor suspected of attacking a family member in a home on Tuesday night was charged today, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Deaundre Marquise Bonds (dob 3/19/76) has been charged with three counts in case TA142355: assault with a deadly weapon, carrying a dirk or dagger and vandalism under $400 with priors.

The felony complaint also alleges that the defendant was convicted of corporal injury to spouse/cohabitant/child’s parent in 1997, voluntary manslaughter in 2002, and vandalism under $400 damage in 2015.

Bonds is scheduled to be arraigned today in Department 12 at the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Compton Branch. Prosecutors have recommended that bail be set at $130,000.

On the afternoon of Jan. 24, Bonds reportedly got into an altercation with a family member in a home in South Los Angeles and was told to leave.

In response, the defendant allegedly went to the kitchen, armed himself with two knives and threw one at the relative, prosecutors said.

The family member reportedly locked himself in a bedroom and Bonds then allegedly stabbed the locked bedroom door, prosecutors added.

Law enforcement responded to the scene and reportedly found Bonds in a nearby location with a knife in his waistband, prosecutors said. The defendant was subsequently taken into custody.

If convicted as charged, Bonds faces a maximum possible sentence of 13 years in state prison.

The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.
